Kass and Mo have been providing self-defense education for over eight years, combining technical expertise with a deeply human approach to safety. Their work goes beyond physical techniques—they create space to address the often stigmatized and sensitive realities surrounding personal safety and traumatic experiences, always with respect, care, and understanding.

Both Kass and Mo are black belts in the Korean self-defense art of Hapkido, with additional cross-training across multiple disciplines to strengthen and diversify their skillsets. It was through this foundation that they began leading safety education trainings for organizations—most notably with sororities on college campuses.

​

What they encountered early on shaped their mission. Again and again, they met individuals carrying fear, guilt, and uncertainty from past experiences—people who had never been given the tools, language, or confidence to feel safe in their own lives.

​

Drawing from both their professional and personal experiences, Kass and Mo recognized a critical gap: self-defense is not just for students or specific populations—it is essential for everyone. In many workplaces and everyday environments, situations can escalate quickly, yet most people are never taught how to respond—physically, mentally, or emotionally.

Kass and Mo’s Self Defense was created to change that.

​

Their mission is rooted in empowerment: to help individuals recognize their worth, trust their instincts, and build the skills needed to protect themselves. Through thoughtful, targeted, and customizable training, they teach not only how to defend the body—but how to strengthen the mind, reclaim confidence, and move through the world with greater awareness and control.

Curriculum

The Toolkit of Self Defense

Physical Focus

The core Toolkit of Self Defense covers a range of mental an physical self defense. From creating physical boundaries to addressing on the ground attacks, this curriculum is designed to give you a "toolkit" of skills and practical options to respond to and remove yourself from a dangerous situation.

Resilence and De-escalation

Lecture / Education Focus

This training is specifically designed to support professionals, especially those working in high stress or areas where escalation is common. Here you learn ways to identify and proactivly respond to brewing confrontation and set yourself up for improved mental fortitude in your everyday life.
