Gym Rejuvenation & Repair (GR&R) Fund FAQ Sheet 


 

When Are Applications Accepted?

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis while funding lasts (funding is commiserate on donations).

 

How is funding received?

Funding is provided on reimbursement - meaning you will provide an invoice or receipt for items or services purchased and SIBBA will cut a check to reimburse you. 

Checks can not be cut to an individual. Reimbursement must be provided to the organization or gym. 

 

What if I urgently need support and can't purchase the item upfront?

SIBBA will consider extenuating circumstances on a per application basis. 

 

What is the funding range?

$100 - $2,000 

 

How frequently can I apply?

Funding can be applied for once every three years. If there are extenuating circumstances such as damages incurred by natural disaster, this time frame may be waived. 

 

What are the reporting requirements?

SIBBAs goal is to help you get back on your feet and re-engage students, not to make you do tons of paperwork! All that we require in return for funding is that you thank us on your social media and send us an image with a short paragraph saying what the funds were used for (you can use the same materials for both!)

 

Acceptable expenses?

Acceptable expenses include but are not limited to:

  • Practice items such as practice weapons, kicking pads, throwing dummies 

  • Gym supplies such as cleaning materials, mats, storage/cubbies

  • Marketing materials

  • Repairs

 

Unallowable expenses?

Funding will not support any of the following:

  • Contractor fees to support guest instructors

  • Individual pay for instructors

 

Who can apply?

Any martial arts gym can apply - Your award will also come with a one year gym membership to SIBBA. That means your members can access the SIBBA website and its member resources such as discounted event registrations. 

We hope that your experience with SIBBA will inspire you to sign on to be a member organization in years moving forward! 

 

How do I apply?

Applications can be completed through the online portal on the SIBBA website. If you have any issues accessing the application or have not received confirmation within a week that your application was received, please reach out to president@sibba.org.

 

I don’t need funding now - can I donate to the fund?

Absolutely! The GR&R Fund is only available so long as funds are available. Donations ensure that when an emergency happens, funds are there. You can provide a donation on the SIBBA website. To ensure it goes to the GR&R Fund, you’ll include a designation in the appropriate box at the bottom of the donation form. 

As part of SIBBAs 501c3 Nonprofit status, it is important to note that when you donate to this fund, you cannot designate the particular gym that the funding will be awarded to.
